What a Year- 2016
It is nearly over but doing one more little job before finishing.
So what have we done? Well thanks to our amazing staff and great customers to use an americanism- ' we knocked it out of the park', more softeners installed and serviced than last year and twice as much salt. Thanks
The Remains of the Year
Here is the remains of our rubbish pile. You have to be really useless to end up here- normally Chinese or softeners that are not softeners.
What Next
So what does next year have to offer- the plan more staff, bigger office and happy customers. The reality- what ever we make it.
As a foot note I must warn you that salt might be going up in the new year. Not much do not panic. Just remember that a proper softener will always save you money.
have a great new year.
Smart Christmas
As we head towards the Christmas break I realised that our work clothes had taken a beating this year.
For the new year new clothes. Poloshirts, fleeces, jackets and hats.
We have added our Scum and Svale logo on that my son designed to remind people of the two great problems with Hard Water.
Our water softener is not working?
When is a water softener not a water softener?
New customers sometimes contact us complaining that they have a water softener that 'has never worked'.
When we attend we often find devices like these-
Some of these have been put in by confusion, some are misold and some are just dangerous.
None of them remove all of the customers calcuim and solve there hard water problems.
I always listen to the customers tales of woe and then let them see a real water softener in action.
We are so confident that you will love soft water we even offer a 3 month trial on our products.
Large office block
A poole based housing trust recently contacted us to solve their scale problems in the office block they occupy.
Working closely with their design and maintence team we specified our amazing Hague watermax. This unit offered the best efficiencies we could find for them which was important not only from an environmental issue but also because the salt needed to be carried to the roof
Great Coffee-Gillingham
Taken over from 911 I believe. Using 911's coffee really great cuppa and good service.
Also highly recommend his sandwiches and pies.
Easy parking next to the bike shop.
Autumn in Dorset
The sun is low in the sky but still beautiful. I must have taken 100,s of photo's from this point over the years but I am still in love with this view.
Anyway must just mention that if you live in Dorset you should really have a water softener- back to the view.
Bournemouth Install
This customer has a lovely home in Bournemouth and had enjoyed the benefits of softened water for many years.
We got called to look at a non working unit, after a service we talked to the customer about the benefits of repair versus replacement.
The customer now has a brand Hague. These are known to be the most efficient water softeners on the market with savings over block salt machines of over 40%.
We also took the opportunity to sort out the customers pipework and fit new stopcocks. Dan our main installer has made a lovely job of connecting to the customers existing iron pipework.
We did I admit need to make 2 visits. The first softener we unpacked had unfortunately been damaged in transport and was not to our satisfaction, this is very rare but as we fit hundred every year I suppose eventually this would happen . The customer was very understanding and a return visit was made with a brand new machine which we keep in stock.
water softener fitted 1 - 0 wine drunk
One worn out softenr
This customer had been starting to get a bit of scum and scale from their old Kinetico water softener
We offered a rebuild but they wanted a more efficient machine, so we fitted a......
Hague 410 which uses less salt and water than the Kinetico and gives the customer even pressure all day.
The machine will use block or tablet and has masssuve flow rates.
A New House
This customer was moving into a brand new home. His neighbour recommended us and The Hague Water Softener
A 3 story house with a mains hot water system needs a large capacity water softener that is cheap to run. So we fitted The Hague 410. It will take block or tablet salt.
Our install Dan did a lovely job tucking it in and still keeping a shelve. In the back you can see a 10 inch filter for the drinking water.
Lets get Rid of Scum and Scale
Hard water is horrible and it gives you Scum and Scale. It ruins your home and costs you money
This customer had had enough and after a recommendation from his neighbours decided to have one of our Harvey Water Softeners fitted.
The customer has hardly lost any space but has saved a whole lot of time cleaning his home.
A Very Scaled up House
This customer had been living with scale until it ruined their hot water cylinder. With a kitchen refurbishment due it was a great time to install a water softener.
It was a bit of a voyage of discovery in that the stopcock was just showing through a tiled panel. We removed that and started a fresh.
You will note the very long hoses, these are like this as the floor and shelves need to be done and the unit might well be moved around.
Also the electricity is temporary.
Ferndown and a new water softener
This customer had finally had enough of scaled up kettles and shower heads. The answer one of our great twin cylinder water Softeners from Harveys.
The customer had brought one of these many years ago but did not find it made a difference.
The customer also took advantage of our special offer on non electric push button stop cocks.
Time to replace that old softener
Leaking and no longer soft but it did so well protecting this customers home.
Replaced with a Hague 410 and then trimmed around with plastic to tidy it all up.
Why would I want a Water Softener?
If you like dry skin, itchy hair, crusty shower heads, expensive repairs, scummy baths, high energy bills and long cleaning sessions with smelly chemicals then please carry on.
If On The Other Had You Would Like A Life Give Us A Call At Dorset Water Softeners.
New Family Home in Ashley Heath
This customer choose a Hague machine . Super reliable and efficient. The builder had 'put in connections for a water softener'.
So after Dan sorted that lot out they had a whole house water softener system with hard water for the garden and untreated water to their Fridge.
Park Homes in Ferndown
This customer was down sizing to a new and rather nice park home. We managed to fit in one of our Harvey water softeners. The customer was delighted with the tidy install.
They are planning to spend less time cleaning and more time gardening.
I Wanted a Water Softener!
This lovely customer had always had a water softener in previous houses. When she moved to sunny old Swanage she wanted a new one. Unfortunately she was sold one of these.
Often called salt free water softeners (sic), we get so many calls from customers who have them but still get scale and do not under stand why. We cannot test them as they do not measurably take out and hardness. Customers still complain of all the problems they have had before. Scaled up shower heads, horrible kettles, dry skin, soap not lathering up.
The answer is simple a water softener. As soon as we connected it the customer could feel the difference and could measure it with the test kit we left.
Check A Trade
We are always trying our hardest to help our customers with great advice and products.
So this week it was great to find that all the effort was working.
250 check a trade report cards filled in and the results showing
Now you see me.....
This customer wanted their new water softener fitted in their ensuit.
And with some clever handy work it has disappeared. Magic in Verwood.
A Swap out of a very soggy old water softener
This customer is running a small Bed and Breakfast and had the good sense to put in a water softener many years ago to protect their home and business.
Unfortunately all good things must come to and end and in typical Waterside / BWT/ Culligan machines that meant the customer getting wet toes.
We advised the customer that a new water softener was the order of the day and that if we moved it to the next cupboard putting salt in would be a lot easier
